Most advanced lock for all platforms. A must have for smart homes

Was excited to hear about this product and got it on the day it was released. After using it for over two months, here are my thoughts.InstallationPretty easy if you have installed a door lock before. Took me probably 10-15 mins to install this lock on my garage entry door to my house.Aqara AppGetting it up and running with the Aqara app was easy as well. What I liked is that I didn’t have to buy the Aqara hub to utilize its smart features. One of the reasons why bought this lock… who wants to buy a hub from every company! Plus, my plan was to use Matter protocol anyway.I added myself and my wife as authorized users with our own key code, fingerprints, and iPhone recognition. It’s crazy how quick it is to just tap your iPhone and the door unlocks!MatterAdding this lock to Matter using AppleTV was harder than it should have been. I had followed the instructions but it seemed to always fail. After what seemed like numerous tries (maybe 10 or so) it just finally worked? Not sure what I did to make it work but was glad it did. After adding, it makes it easy to lock and unlock the lock on iPhones, handy when you wanted to do it remotely.Quirks…. Including being locked out!I have had a few firmware updates since install and one of them fixed a previous issue I had with this device: Passage mode. Before the latest firmware update, the door would auto lock when you leave the house, and there is a possibility of being locked out if you didn’t have the phone on you or if the lock stopped functioning. With the latest update, the passage mode remains on unless you tap the button to turn it off or use the app to turn it off.Speaking of being locked out, it actually happened to me but lucky my wife was home. My code worked but the latch wouldn’t unlock. Same thing with my phone or fingerprint. The tone would go off letting you know that it was unlocked, but it seems like the latch wasn’t moving so when you turn the knob, the door wouldn’t open. I had to reinstall the lock then it worked again. Scary, and hoping it won’t happen again. This is the reason why I have knocked a star off and I will update review again if it happens againOverall, this is a great smart lock and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants seamless entry. If you don’t have a bolt on your door, and want a smart lock, this would be a great option for you.

once you get it setup properly it's sweet. atleast it has been for the few days i've had it setup.here is what you need to succeed with the Apple ecosystem:- if anything you've done doesn't match my suggestion, you likely need to reset and restart adding the u100 to your Home- i did not install the aqara app at all; this forfeits the fingerprint reader. installing the app may be a fine thing to do, idk.- you must be using a thread enabled apple home hub- verify your apple home is actually using the hub you intend, and that the one you intend supports thread- this basically means the homepod mini or apple tv 4k- without this, home key will not work- if you switch hubs (like plugging in a homepod mini) after setting up the u100, it will continue not working- but if you get everything right from step 1, your iphone, apple watch, and the people you invite, will experience that magicidk id this is an aqara problem or an apple problem. i suspect it's actually apple, as their entire home effort has been trash for years. i keep holding out hope tho.i do have one lingering issue -- when an invite guest or resident looks at the lock, it doesn't show them the status and saying it's unresponsive. again, this is probably an apple problem

Works perfectly with ihome for Apple, very user-friendly, easy to set up…, and looks great!

We are using the Aqara Smart Lock U300 on the entry door from our garage into our house. It was added directly into Apple Home. We are not using the Aqara app or the Aqara hub. Everything works-- codes, fingerprints, Siri, Apple Home Key, passage mode, and a physical key. My partner mainly uses his fingerprint to open the door, while I use the Apple Watch with Home Key. Aqara was very speedy about answering email questions on whether this would fit our door. We sent pictures and measurements to them before we bought it. After using it for several months, this is one of my favorite Smart Apple Home products!

The U300 is a very sold, quality lock. One issue has been corrected and that it auto locks and you could not change it. After the update you can turn this off or set longer times. I specifically like it is Matter over Thread and it will talk to Matter controllers other than Aqara's. I did find that you had to move quickly to connect to a Matter controller or it times out. If you want to control more than basic functions remotely you need the Aqara hub (add users, etc). Matter hubs will still enable you to open the door remotely. Works great with my new Homey controller.
